Project Background
Capelrig House is a Category A listed building in the Glasgow suburbs, listed in 1971. Built in 1769 for a Glasgow lawyer, it is the last surviving remnant of a once larger estate. After years of inadequate maintenance and poor-quality repairs, the client was keen to address these issues as part of a wider reimagining of the building.
Client’s Brief and Our Approach
We were initially commissioned to carry out a fabric condition survey, which led to our appointment to develop proposals for the necessary fabric repairs. These included extensive stonework restoration, roof repairs, and redecoration — all carefully delivered as part of a wider development strategy to upgrade the building for use by the local authority bringing together a number of outreach and facilities for the school and community.
The Result
By completing the repairs the building is now dry, protected and ready for the next phase of its life.
