Capelrig House

Fabric Repairs

Lee Boyd Architects for East Renfrewshire Council Newton Mearns, UK

Client Location

Capelrig House is a Category A listed building in the suburbs of Glasgow, listed back in 1971. The building was constructed with ‘tooled ashlar with rusticated quoins and dressed margins’ in 1769 for a Glasgow lawyer.

Historic maps identify several estates and enlarged farm buildings in the area of which only remnants of these estates and boundaries now exist, making Capelrig house a significant example of architecture in the historic development of this area of Glasgow.

The initial fabric condition survey supported the re-imagining of the building. The fabric Repairs included significant stone repairs, roof works and redecoration, all carefully restored as part of a wider development plan.
